Christmas Wreath Cookies

rooksrecipes

This is actually my mom’s recipe . . . I’ve never made them though, I just eat ’em.

Ingredients:

  • 1 Cup Butter softened
  • 1/2 Cup Sugar
  • 2 1/4 cups flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon of almond extract
  • 1 Package red hot cinnamon candies (for holly berries)
  • Red, yellow, and green food coloring

Directions:

Set oven to 400 degrees.

Cream butter and sugar. Blend in remaining ingredients.

To make the wreaths: divide the dough into thirds.

Color one red, one green, and one yellow.

Put all dough into cookie press or spritz maker (these are tri-color wreaths). Make them “wreath shaped.”

Place red cinnamons on top of wreath for holly berries.

Bake 6-9 minutes until set, but NOT BROWN.

Make ’em small and you’ll get about five dozen cookies.

If you make them early and put them in the freezer, hide well – because Rookie says the bag will be gone by Christmas.
